Di tanti palpiti - Encore!

My mom watched me singing Di tanti palpiti to Troy today and immediately pointed out how well he was listening and how happy it made him. She told me that he is definitely getting a lot from my singing, and that at this point he gets more out of my voice than out of the beautiful voices on CDs that I play for him, just because it's his mother's voice, which keeps him completely relaxed and not in the least overwhelmed.
She also said that the idea of singing to Troy is great and it will definitely grow into something very nice. He will most likely develop the sense of harmony pretty early.
In addition to all that she complimented me on singing this aria. She said that the way I sing it (very softly) I actually get to pull it off and all the complexities sound nice and (almost effortless!!!).

It means the world for me, because mom has always been my toughtest critic (as well as best friend), so she would never say I do something nice unless I really did.

By the way, the painting above is the nicest illustration to Tancredi, painted by Nicholas Poussin, where you can see heroic Erminia cutting off her hair to stanch Tancred's bleeding.

I'm not familiar with Tancredi but I'll have to take a listen. There are so many operas out there, it's hard to know which one to learn about next.

All mothers sing to their babies. They just don't all sing opera. ;)

Congrats on having your mother compliment you. No matter how old we are, it's great when our parents tell us they're proud of us!

In my humble opinion, Elina Garanca sings it best(I do recommend to get her Bel Canto CD if you don't have it yet), but if you surf you tube, Marylin Horne sings it too ( even though,as much as I love MH, her Tancredi is definitely not my favorite). There are many other artists singing it, so pick your favorite artist and enjoy.
I am absolutely in love with the aria.
I sing all kinds of music to my son. I sing lots of Russian folk music to him - he loves it.
